Won't always get it saucered and blow'd

There seems to be a new trend that our family friends' college-aged students are just consistently unhappy with where they are/what they are doing and for some reason have decided the answer is to move.  Not move their perspectives, but physically move schools thinking that changing their geographic location or future alma mater will give them answers.  There seems to be a new intensity revolving around disliking the unknown.  I say it that way because of course very few people enjoy not knowing things, hence how so many things have come to be (people figuring out things they don't know),  but today it appears as though there is such a disgust that one will try to physically get away from not knowing.  This is obviously not going to work for many reasons, but the number one reason being common sense - no matter where you go there are always going to be unknowns.

This is where the title of this post comes in.  My dad shared that granddaddy used to always say, "You won't always get it saucered and blow'd."  Don't worry, that made no sense to me either when I first heard it.  To explain:  ideally when you get coffee it will be served nicely on a saucer and blown to the perfectly cooled temperature for your drinking pleasure.  Welp, it's not always going to be "saucered and blow'd."  Not only that, but many many times it will come quite the opposite and you'll have to do the work to get it the way you want.  That my friend is the same as life.  Life and growing up doesn't prep for you making sure it's got everything lined up for when you come along.  Desires, passions and goals don't come from external sources or schools, but from within.  And those drives and passions are what shape your life into what you want not the other way around.

I am grateful and blessed to have been taught this lesson and to have had the ability to follow my passions and drives.  I have blessed with parents who have instilled hard work, determination, and commitment in me and that has taken me as far as I have gotten thus far and I have no doubt those same qualities will continue to carry me.
